Description
• To commission access to appriopriate equipment that enables Service Users to live more independently. Demand on equipment is increasing as a result of the ageing population, user expectations and advances in technology and medical services as well as a move to caring for people more appropriately in their own homes rather than hospitals or care homes. Community equipment can support people to: • Reduce the number of times they have to be admitted to hospital • Reduce the length of stay in hospital • Reduce the need for them to move into long-term residential care or nursing homes • Manage their disabilities in the best way preventing them from deterioration • Maintain independence • Reduce the amount of care and support required Prevention of additional medical complications ( ulcers)
