The overarching objective is to reduce the harm which alcohol misuse causes for individuals, communities and families as set out in the Government Alcohol Strategy 2012 and NICE 'Alcohol Use Disorders' guidance including 'Diagnosis, assessment and management ofharmful drinking and alcohol dependence' and 'Preventing harmful drinking' . The work of the Criminal Justice Integrated Team (CJIT) aims to tackle drugs and reduce crime through engaging adult drug misusing offenders of specified Class A drugs (heroin and crack/cocaine) with treatment and other support services and through this to support them to stop offending.
