Description
Nottingham City Council requires an independent Sustainable Transport Study to be carried for the Waterside Regeneration Area (identified in Appendices A and B). This will support the Waterside Supplementary Planning Document (SPD), which is currently in draft form. The Council is working with Blueprint, the developers of several sites within the Waterside regeneration area in order to develop sustainable residential development. The development is to be seen as an exemplar in terms of both energy and transport sustainability. The Council is looking for advice on the transport needs of the future Waterside development area and how to ensure it aligns with the vision for the areas to provide a sustainable and integrated infrastructure and transport network. The Draft SPD describes the area's ambitions: Waterside's community will benefit from its proximity to good public transport links and its location on a strategic gateway into the city. Sustainable forms of transport will be promoted within the area which will integrate the new community with other parts of the city, including the canal which will provide a key sustainable route between the city centre and Waterside. Accessibility by walking, cycling, bus, tram and rail will be maximised, and major road junctions around Waterside will be improved. Improved cross river connections will create better links to West Bridgford and beyond.
