Description
Wealden District Council is seeking tenders from suitably qualified and experienced Contractors, to act as Principle Contractor in the design and construction of new affordable retirement housing, demolition, external works and drainage at the Grants Hill House site, Uckfield.\n \n The Grants Hill House site consists of an old block of 42 flats for older people. The current building is no longer fit for purpose and does not meet the aspirations of older people. The building is empty and secured. \n \n The contract shall be for the design and construction of a new retirement living housing development that will provide 67 dwellings, consisting of 65 apartments and 2 cottages and the supporting communal administrative and ancillary accommodation.\n \n The Council received planning approval in March 2016 to replace the existing building with 67 Retirement Living apartments with communal facilities including residents lounge, buggy store, disabled bathroom, guest suite and landscaped gardens.
