Description
The overall purpose of this work is to contribute towards the build and maintenance of a "Restoration Project Database" (referred to as 'Database' from hereon), as part of the estuarine and coastal (E&C) restoration initiative "Restoring Meadow, Marsh and Reef (ReMeMaRe)". The aim of the database is to collate data pertaining to E&C restoration projects undertaken in the UK (current and completed), which, dependent on the data supplied may be used for, but not limited to: - Maintaining oversight of all UK E&C restoration projects; - Collating and making relevant data accessible; - Supporting communication of restoration activities and E&C importance to varying audiences; - Understanding restoration costs and potential income to better inform sustainable financing mechanisms and future investment; - Identifying barriers to delivery (e.g., regulatory and licensing process) to help tackle issues at a national or UK level to enable future restoration; - Spatial planning and management of all aspects of restoration activities and how these interact alongside other users over time; and - Effective and open reporting on restoration 'indicators' that may be required now or in the future at national or UK level (e.g., informing Environmental Improvement Plans (EIP)).
