Description
North Yorkshire County Council and the City of York Council require the provision of radio aids, associated equipment, maintenance and servicing to support individuals with hearing loss in educational settings. Radio Aids are a vital resource for children who are hearing impaired/deaf. They provide a mechanism for children to hear the adult over noise and distance. This enables them to hear in schools and early year settings where background noise and distance from the speaker is inevitable. The Inclusion Service is responsible for enabling children and young people to access education. The aim of the Inclusion Service is to remove barriers to inclusion. Radio Aids are one way in which this is achieved for children and young people with hearing impairment or deafness. The Radio Aid enables children to hear in unfavorable hearing environments and enables the Authority to achieve this aim. The radio aids purchased by the Authorities must be compatible with hearing aids which are supplied by the Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGS) to children and young people in the North Yorkshire and York region.
