Description
Sheffield Hallam University has awarded a contract for an Impact Testing Tower to improve the student's experience; by providing up to date technology and improving the accuracy of the results produced. The equipment is to be operational by September 2017 for possible inclusion in labs and student projects. The equipment will be used in the Structural Integrity Lab which is located in the Sheaf Building. The equipment will support; undergraduate, post-graduate, research, consultancy and final year student projects. The projects vary from Charpy tests at different temperatures to hockey helmets and shin pads. The equipment could also be used to support Composites and Engineering labs involving high strain impact tests. Benefits will involve the expansion and enhancement of our present capabilities and will also provide alternative testing methods to Pendulum Impact, which has limited capability.
