Description
Broadmeadows Retaining Wall is situated on the north side of Broadmeadows in Outwood, Wakefield and runs for approximately forty metres from the junction of Broadmeadows and Sheridan Street. The retaining wall supports a landscaped area and private gardens and properties. The front face of the wall has collapsed and the remaining wall is in danger of collapsing. The area has been made safe by the installation of pedestrian guard rails to preclude pedestrians from the area. The remaining damaged wall is to be demolished and rebuilt with brick faced mass concrete retaining walls. The refurbishment works to the wall comprise: - a) Installation of temporary works to support to the embankment and gardens above. b) Removal of pedestrian guard railing, delivery to Tadman Street Depot. c) Removal of the remains of the damaged wall. d) Excavation for foundations. e) Concrete operations to build the replacement retaining walls. f) Brick facing to the new retaining wall. g) Backfilling of the new wall. h) Footway repairs as necessary. i) Topsoil to landscaped area. The works are funded by Wakefield Councils Corporate Landlord team but will be procured and supervised by Wakefield Councils Highways Bridges team.
