Derby and Derbyshire Coroner service refers forensic samples for pathology services to the University Hospitals of Leicester for analysis. \r Derby and Derbyshire Coroner service uses the pathology services of University Hospital of Leicester to analyse forensic samples taken when home office post mortems have been undertaken.\r Home office post mortems are undertaken at Leicester Mortuary by a home office registered pathologist who acts on behalf of the coroner and police to investigate suspicious deaths and murder cases.\r UHL work closely with the mortuary offers a service which provides a comprehensive range of laboratory investigations that are constantly being updated to take in to account the analysis of new substances.\r The use of UHL to provide the specialist forensic pathology service is the preferred choice of the senior coroner and also the police service.
