Description
The Contracting Authority is tendering their Right to Buy (RTB) Leasehold Buildings Insurance in line with public procurement legislation in time for renewal on 1 April 2023. The insurance policy seeks to cover private dwellings sold on a leasehold basis, the majority of which were sold under the RTB legislation. The dwellings are flats in blocks, flats in houses (maisonettes) and houses where the Contracting Authority still retains the freehold ownership (including those referred to as mortgaged properties). In these situations the leases state that the Contracting Authority, as the Freeholder, will arrange the buildings insurance on behalf of the Leaseholder and recharge the cost to do so. Where units in some blocks have not been sold (Council tenanted) they are separately covered and so insurance cover for these units is not required.
