Description
In January 2019, the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) published Standards for Pre-registration Nursing Programmes. These standards set out the entry requirements, length of programme, methods of assessment and the level of award for NMC-approved programmes. Education institutions must comply with the standards to be approved to run any NMC-approved programmes and student nurses must successfully complete and NMC-approved pre-registration programme in order to meet standards for registered nurses and be able to join the NMC register. This tender exercise aims to support the implementation, engagement and embedding of the Standards for Pre-registration Programmes into social care settings, through creation of a guidance document that has been co-produced with the social care and education sector that demonstrates how pre-registration nursing curriculum learning outcomes can be well met in social care settings.
