Framework Agreement for the Supply of Saline Solutions, Serums and Reagents

NHSBT requires Bovine Serum Albumin for use in manufacturing Reagents, and the quantification of antibodies. NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) Laboratories use phosphate buffered saline solution to wash and store red cell samples. NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) Reagents use a hypertonic saline solution to recover cells cryopreserved in vapour phase liquid Nitrogen in a 28% glycerol solution. NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) Reagents use a low isotonic strength preservative solution for the storage of CE marked reagent red cells at 1.5% red cell suspensions. Alsevers solution is required for preparing various red cell Reagents (3%, 4%, 25% or 30% suspension of red cells)
