Description
The Mayor of London has committed to the development of a London-wide Heritage Strategy, in partnership with Historic England and other stakeholders, in the London Plan (2021). To deliver this the London Heritage Engagement Strategy (LHES) will provide a platform for conversations about Londoners' experience of, and aspirations for, their heritage, and present these findings alongside existing heritage evidence in an accessible format for each location/borough. It will develop a process and a programme of work to support the implementation of the heritage related requirements in the London Plan. In line with Historic England's aims of Active Participation, Thriving Places and Connected Communities , the LHES seeks to enable diverse understandings of heritage to be considered within the planning system; with community input gathered so that it can shape local and strategic planning policy. It also provides an opportunity to identify ideas and projects for future proactive heritage management.
