Description
Royal Berkshire Fire Authority is proud to have its own Fire House facility. The use of the Fire House as part of Fire Fighter training and ongoing skills testing is a key requirement. The Fire House at Whitley Wood, Reading was built 23 years ago and has been in almost constant use since this time. The building is structurally sound however to maximise its usage based on modern requirements would benefit from some re configuration of the existing layout. The major part of this project is the retrofit of the current safety and training system plus the de commissioning and disposal of the system currently in place. Some minor works have been undertaken in the last year to enable the current system to continue to be used. The Authority recognises that this now needs a refit of the training and fire safety system as well as a range of improvements to the building in order to make this suitable for use in the longer term. The range of work will include: o De commissioning and removal of the existing training and safety system o Retrofit of the training and safety system o Building work to improve the internal layout of the Fire House* o Ongoing support and maintenance for a minimum of five years with the option to extend this. *The Authority does not consider the current plan of works required will require planning approval. o The Authority is seeking a single supplier with the relevant expertise, knowledge and capacity able to deliver the whole project and provide ongoing maintenance support for the safety system.
