Description
Sampling of COVID-19 positive individuals 1. To deliver detailed insight into virus emission from ambulatory cases of COVID-19 focusing on patterns 2. To correlate FMS RNA signals with those obtained from contemporaneous conventional swab tests and with recovery of replication competent virus. Sampling of healthy volunteers: 1. To relate bacterial and particle emission profiles associated with different respiratory efforts (small airway closure manoeuvres, coughing) in linked PExA and FMS studies. 2. To assess the source of these emissions with assays of upper and lower airway surface fluid biomarkers. Optimise FMS for SARS-CoV-2 Sampling: 1. To determine conditions inside masks that optimise microbial capture in the sampling matrix
