Description
ISIS neutron and muon source, STFC is a world class research facility in the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory based on the Harwell campus. Our suite of instruments use neutrons and muons to study structural and dynamic properties of materials at the atomic scale. Our science spans a wide range of disciplines, from magnetism to cultural heritage, engineering to food science, and chemistry to environmental science. ISIS houses two biology laboratories, providing specialist equipment and expertise for the preparation, characterisation and handling of biological and biochemical samples. These may include nucleic acids, proteins, lipids and bacterial cell cultures. We assist visiting scientists in preparing, checking, and optimising samples for ISIS instrument beam time. As part of preparation and characterisation of proteins, we are seeking to buy a column-based protein purification system which is fully modular.
