Description
See additional details text which gives further information with regards to how to apply for an interview slot at the Market Research Day on Wednesday 13 November 2019 for Direct Purchase of Fleet Vehicles. Canterbury City Council is in the process of setting up a Local Authority Trading Company, and is looking to procure appropriate vehicles, either in the name of the Local Authority Trading Company or in the Council's name, for the provision of refuse, recycling and street cleansing services. The Council is looking to explore alternative vehicle options, including type and size, and including alternative fuel and electric powered vehicles where practical. It is envisaged that the new vehicles will be available from 25th January 2021 onwards. Canterbury currently requires for its contractor to operate an alternate weekly collection of residual, twin-stream dry recycling, garden and food waste, including the subsequent transfer to authorised waste facilities using a mixture of 28 vehicles of varying sizes, including standard refuse collection vehicles, refuse collection vehicles with pods, and split-bodied vehicles. Residual waste and recycling is collected from all properties in the district primarily by means of 240 litre wheeled containers (standard for residual, fitted with inserts for paper recycling), with larger 1100 Litre containers in place at communal and commercial properties. Garden waste is collected from all properties in the district by means of a 240 litre wheeled container, other than communal blocks. Food waste is collected from all properties in the district via a 23 litre caddy. Street Cleansing services are provided across the district at a variety of frequencies utilising 5 specialist Road Sweeping Vehicles, a 7.5 tonne Hi-ab tipper vehicle and 14 3.5 tonne tipper vehicles with lifts. Interested parties should note that the vehicles will be need to be able to be fitted with an in-cab technology system including GPS and 360 degree cameras which will be required under a Council contract.
