Description
An unidentified wooden wreck site was discovered during a Historic England funded project. A single brick and onion bottle were recovered from the site to assist in identification. The onion bottle appeared to be of a Dutch type and typical of the period 1730's. The position is not charted by the UKHO, and there is no NRHE record for the assemblage. A full assessment is therefore required, including a desk-based assessment to bring together known evidence on the site, and a diver survey in order to ground truth features. The finders are both experienced archaeological divers with HSE qualifications, and wish to participate in the fieldwork and in the preparation of the post-fieldwork assessment.
