Description
The Authority has identified a requirement to build new affordable Authority housing to meet housing need in the Borough. A preliminary scoping exercise has been carried out to identify suitable sites for infill development on housing land owned by the Authority. The Phase 1 project was tendered and awarded in 2015 and comprised 3 different sites; Chenduit Way and Binyon Crescent for Affordable Rent (ART) and Masefield Avenue for private sale. We are now tendering for the Phase 2 project; Atherton Place which will comprise of 3 new affordable homes for rent. The Authority have appointed an architect that has designed to stage D+, design drawings are included within this ITT pack. This scheme, whilst relatively small in size, is hugely significant in terms of the Authority re-entering the market of housing construction and as such is seen as a flagship project. It will be high profile and will attract a great deal of publicity and attention within the borough, which means the execution and delivery of this project, is critical to the borough?s public profile. In light of the above, the Authority require the preferred contractor to understand the importance of quality in the execution of these works, and to have the experience and expertise to complete the contract to the standard required.
