Description
As part of the EODIP initiative, the Authority, Scottish Government and the Joint Nature Conservation Committee are seeking to develop a framework that will enable the use of Earth Observation data alongside data from other sources in order to assess peatland habitat condition. This framework would be cost effective to deploy and optimised to use the new time series of Sentinel data as well as other earth observation resources . In addition the project will test how earth observation can be used to scale up site level assessments of condition to provide a picture of the whole peatland resource and the implications for ecosystem services, particularly greenhouse gas dynamics. Ultimately this will assist in monitoring and managing the peatland resource as well as enabling consistent carbon accounting for peatland sites.
