Description
To provide a comprehensive training solution which provides FCDO staff with the confidence in working with and engaging with the media and how to present the public face of HMG to the media during a crisis response. To enable FCDO staff to feel confident in being interviewed by the media. To enable FCDO staff to feel comfortable with the approaches of various types of reporters, understanding their aims in a crisis situation. To enable FCDO staff to understand the risks in both the UK and overseas context. To enable FCDO staff to gain an understanding of how to manage the media in a crisis setting, roaming media, social media and managing crisis specific messaging. Whenever a major incident happens abroad, such as a natural disaster or extreme weather event, a large-scale accident, civil unrest, terrorism or conflict, senior leaders at Post and the media team will need to effectively manage the relationship with the media. Evidence and feedback from our Crisis Leadership Courses, Rapid Deployment Team Training our Crisis Exercises shows the importance of media training and how welcomed this is by our staff. In such a fast-paced media environment, there is a need to keep abreast of ever changing technology and methods of media reporting. Training will be delivered in a variety of settings depending on the course or exercise.
