Description
Historic England is seeking to appoint a consultant to develop a financially viable (sustainable within five years), adaptable and evolving visitor experience model and strategic business plan for the visitor experience element of Shrewsbury Flaxmill Maltings (SFM), scheduled to open in summer 2021. Historic England and the Friends of the Flaxmill Maltings (the Friends) are looking to deliver a pioneering and innovative visitor experience at SFM that will provide a destination for local communities, regional communities and tourists to experience, celebrate and learn about this unique and internationally significant heritage site. In order to achieve this ambition, Historic England and the Friends need to understand the market in Shrewsbury, Shropshire and the surrounding area, in order to develop a memorable visitor experience and deliver a financially viable operational plan for the future of SFM. The work of the consultant will form the basis for the creative design and development and delivery of the future interpretation scheme for the visitor experience.
