Description
Project Summary The purpose of this brief is to commission consultants to develop a robust evidence base that examines the idea of ‘Good Growth’ in terms of the historic environment in London, and illustrates this with case studies. The term has been in use for a short while, notably featuring in the Mayor’s Design Advisory Group on Growing London. However, the scope and definition of this term appear to be fluid, providing an opportunity for the historic environment to be recognised as an important part of Good Growth from the outset. This project will inform Historic England’s response to the London Plan, which will promote a positive heritage strategy within the new Plan. The focus of the project is on heritage-led regeneration and the contribution of London’s heritage to London’s economy and quality of life. The study will take an analytical approach, in both quantitative and qualitative terms, to identify the role and importance of heritage to ‘Good Growth’.
