Pension Charges Survey 2016

DWP previously commissioned the Pension Charges Survey 2015, in order to capture baseline data for benchmarking and monitoring charge levels and structures prior to the introduction of these charges measures. Providers reported on charges based on a reporting year of April 2014-March 2015 or January-December 2014, with the survey published in December 2015. We are now commissioning the Pension Charges Survey 2016 to provide comparable data to the baseline data collected from the Pension Charges Survey 2015, for the period after the introduction of the charges measures. The data from the Pension Charges Survey 2016 will be used, together with the baseline survey, to: a) inform the publicly announced 2017 Government review of the level of the 0.75% charge cap and of whether transaction costs should be included within the cap; and, b) monitor the impact and effectiveness of the different charges measures introduced from April 2015 onwards.
