Description
The Nautical Institute (NI) are being contracted to provide oil spill accreditation services on behalf of DESNZ/OPRED. This activity is carried out in conjunction with the MCA to ensure a consistent approach within the oil, gas and shipping industries. NI will provide accreditation of third-party training providers of offshore oil and gas oil response courses (Levels 1 to 4). It is a regulatory requirement that oil and gas personnel undertaking certain oil pollution response functions, e.g. on-scene commander, incident controller, environmental advisors, duty managers, government cell liaisons, etc undertake certain minimum training requirements. Training is provided by third-party specialist contractors and NI accredits the third-party companies to ensure that the training course materials and trainers meet minimum course standards. This contract is to cover the period 2024/25 and 2025/26. NI have been providing accreditation of 3rd party oil spill response training providers for 15+ years on behalf of OPRED & MCA.
