Description
Bristol Aero Collection Trust wishes to appoint a Moving Contractor ("the Contractor") to undertake the relocation and installation of large objects from their current location in the Brabazon Hangar to the site of the new Bristol Aerospace Centre. The contract is to move all the large objects identified for the exhibition from the Brabazon hangar, where they are currently stored, to the new museum on the opposite side of Filton Airfield. The large objects include aeroplanes, inert guided weapons, aero engines and a variety of other aerospace-related items. The exhibits will be display-ready and therefore will be transported as complete items ready for installation. Each item has its own unique set of requirements and many have delicate and fragile elements which need to be considered in their move, e.g. fragile perspex in cockpits, unstable tyres and fuselages which must not be twisted. The contractor will liaise with BACT volunteers to understand the specific requirements of each item. This liaison is a critical element in the success of this move. The objects need to be moved in one stage from storage into their final exhibition place. This will include placing objects onto display mounts and stands. The contractor will advise the movement timetable sequence of each object into its allocated final position and will liaise with the exhibition designers Event to ensure the detail of this.
