Description

supply and installation of a new footbridge over Nunney Brook in the village of Nunney in Mendip. The footbridge connects public footpath FR 12/44 between Castle Street and Church Street. The footbridge and central pier have been removed. The ramps, concrete pads and small area of flood wall remain in situ. The site sits within Nunney Conservation Area. Nunney Castle and its boundary walls are classed as a scheduled monument and the 2 properties directly to the east of the footbridge are grade II listed. In addition many of the other buildings and structures along the access routes and within the vicinity of the bridge site are listed or of historic importance. Works include: • Providing all pre-site information required and applying for consents where necessary, • Removal and disposal of the old concrete pads and making good, • Removal and disposal of the old ramps if necessary, • Supplying a new cambered 12.5m span steel framed, timber clad footbridge to SCC's design, • Install new foundations, ramps, retaining wall, handrails, fencing and drainage in line with SCC's design and surfacing works, • Installing the new footbridge, • Reinstating flood bank, landscaping and planting.
