Description
The project comprises the design and construction of improvements to Baldwins Pond, potentially including for (but not necessarily limited to):- a) Measures to permanently stem leakage through the dam, potentially by the formation of vertical "cut off" layer along the critical length of the dam, toed into natural sub-strata; b) Measures to provide a new impermeable lining to the remaining section of culvert/fill left after the fire damage to the previous 900mm diameter corrugated GRP pipe; c) Measures to provide an auxiliary emergency spillway to the dam, to convey flood flows that are beyond the capacity of the current arrangements, as appropriate to the catchment area and risk category of downstream receptors, if relevant; d) Measures to provide suitable stilling structures to the overflows at the downstream toe of the dam; e) Works to improve the access tracks accessing/egressing the dam, for the purposes of construction access and future maintenance.
