Historical Railways Estate (HRE) - Examinations 2020

This notice relates to award of contracts for the following: There are a number of structures that require more frequent inspections or monitoring on either the whole, or part or parts of the structure in addition to the requirement of the routine detailed and visual examination frequency for the whole structure. The frequency may typically be one, three or six monthly but occasionally the period between examinations may be further reduced. Detailed examinations are to be a tactile and careful inspection of all parts and surfaces of the structure. Access shall be provided to all surfaces and parts of the structure to be examined including specialist access equipment, hoists, scaffolding and the use of abseiling/roped access methods are to be utilised as required. When undertaking the examination, the examiner must be able to touch all parts of the structure.
