Description
Liverpool City Region Combined Authority agreed a ground breaking devolution deal with Government in November 2015 which sees significant funding and powers devolved to the City Region across employment and skills, economic development, housing and transport. This will form the basis of the £500m Single Investment Fund over the period to 2020/21. The Combined Authority is adopting a Mayoral model, with the first elected City Region Mayor elected on 5 May 2017. Following the completion of the Area Based Review of post-16 education and training, the Combined Authority is now seeking to develop and publish a local skills strategy for the City Region. It is intended that this strategy will provide a robust evidence base and clear set of actions that, once implemented, will ensure that education and training institutions are better informed on the skills that employers require, are better placed to deliver them and that the City Region creates the right conditions for these skills to be delivered. Importantly, implementing the strategy and accompanying actions should secure accessible and relevant provision to meet the needs, entitlements and ambitions of individuals seeking to access and progress in employment through appropriate leaning and employment pathways.
