Description
Expressions of interest are invited from suitably qualified contractors for the conservation and repair works to this Scheduled Monument site in West Sussex. The works to the historic iron furnace site, the pond dam and surrounding area include water management, groundworks, structural concrete and masonry repairs. Works include: - Temporary and enabling works to manage water levels and site safety further to: - The repair and conservation of the northern sluice structure including: - Repairs and alterations to brick built sump, - Repairs to the concrete culvert and retaining wall, - Attenuation and erosion control measures to the outlet area, - Construction of new sluice gate control measures and access platforms. - Repair and conservation of the Furnace archaeological site including: - Attenuation of water flows, - Repair of masonry structures - Protective groundworks to adjacent banks with a vegetated retaining wall. - The repair and conservation of the southern spillway including: - Reconstruction of the stone retaining wall, - Repairs to the wing walls, barrel vault and stone weir channel. - Erosion protection measures to the inlet and outlet. - Completion of groundworks and erosion protection measures to link the channels from the north sluice and southern spillway.
