Description
Design and construction of new headquarters building for staff working in the Arboretum Nursery at Kew Gardens. The works comprise a complete demolition of the existing welfare building and foundations which has reached the end of its useable life, and its replacement with a new building in the same location. The existing building is a single-storey timber structure with a flat, felt covered roof, which overhangs to form a walkway along both its longitudinal sides. The site abuts the roadway on the North and East elevations. The building lies directly adjacent to the storage shed, separated by an approximate distance of 1m on its South elevation. The new building will comprise a two-storey building providing welfare facilities, offices and meeting spaces. The new facility will provide fit for purpose modern facilities to support long-term business needs and successful operation of the Arboretum Nursery, which is a critical part of the Royal Botanic Gardens.
