Description
UKAEA seeks to appoint a Consultant to help define its data provenance and engineering data ontology model for ongoing engineering and scientific projects. The work will involve the rollout of a system which meets our needs and furthers R&D related to the Open Source (OS) toolchain to use as part of UKAEA's Engineering Data Management (EDM) processes. To realise the STEP ambition, UKAEA wishes to appoint a Consultant to help us instantiate an Engineering Data Management (EDM) system on site. This system will need to take into account that our requirements are driven entirely by future need and connections to enabling technology. This work will enhance our capabilities and assist the authority in the creation of a number of data ontologies for the provenance, storage and archival of engineering and other scientific simulation and experimental data. The creation of said storage and other ontological setups will allow the Authority to make a strong move into the data science regime. This change allows; more complete validation of data, simulation validation by software version to check for staleness, and allows for full referencing of data by DOI/UUID. This will allow crucial provenance checks of data to be made. Initial deliverables will include a strategy and generic specification for a number of database configurations (e.g. materials, experiment, etc) as part of STEP.
