Description
North East London CCG intends to award a contract for minor skin surgical procedures and treatment including wound aftercare serving patients in the borough of City of London and Hackney. The service is an alternative to hospital-based treatments offering a one stop service for appropriate minor skin surgical procedures, which aims to minimise the need for follow up and redirection. Services required are as follows: • Enhanced Minor Skin Surgery (in line with the national Directed Enhanced Service DES) - this includes excision and incision procedures • Enhanced Arthrocentesis - Injection/aspiration of joints (in line with the national Directed Enhanced Service DES) • Cryotherapy/Cautery for those practices that have opted out of the GMS/PMS additional service of minor surgery The service will offer review and education for GPs ensuring high standards of referral to meet 90% seen and treated in the first appointment performance targets. Activity and Finance: The annual value and activity for this service is approximately £84,000 providing 860 procedures. The estimated value includes referral review, GP education, consultations, procedures, aftercare including suture removal and wound management. City and Hackney ICP currently has a GP registered population of approximately 320,000 patients served by 40 practices organised into 8 Primary Care Networks (PCNs) based on geography, which would be covered by this service. These services will need to be provided from key locations to serve patients from all the primary care networks. For the benefit of our patients, it is fundamental that the provider works in an integrated manner with a range of other providers across the borough who provide other related services: • Primary Care Networks • City and Hackney GP Confederation • East & South East London Pathology Partnership • The Homerton University Hospital Foundation Trust (HUHFT) • Barts Health • Other community and secondary care providers The service will be innovative, accessible, integrate and align with providers within the health and social care economy. The service will need to provide services within City and Hackney at suitable locations. The aims of the service are the following: • Provide an efficient service that ensures patient's and clinical time is not wasted • Enable patients to access routine minor surgical procedures in a timely manner • Ensure agreed patient care pathways are effective and followed by referrers, and the service clinicians • Receive high levels of patient satisfaction • Ensure operating standards meet local and national quality requirements • Ensure patients have equal access to consistent levels of service regardless of where they live and their gender, age, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, religion or beliefs.
