Description
Coventry University Protection Service (Protection Service) is responsible for all aspects of University Protection and in its current form has been in existence since March 2016. The service is currently managed by a dedicated contract management team with the additional support of two in-house senior security positions. The current contract, based on an originally in-house team, is now nearing the end of its full five-year duration and Coventry University is now planning for the next Protection Services contract to commence 01/08/2021. It is anticipated that the contract term will consist of an initial period of three years, with the option to extend for two additional one-year periods subject to yearly satisfactory performance reviews. Any extension will be subject to the costings submitted by the Contractor within its bid. It is estimated that spend over the full term of the contract would be in the region of £15m. the estimate for the purposes of open advert is £17m and this allows for potential expansion of the contract. For the avoidance of doubt, these figures represent an approximation of spend only, it does not commit Coventry University to a guaranteed level spend over the term of the Contract. The University is not splitting this Contract into separate Lots as the requirement to coordinate all of the aspects of the services provided under the heading of Protection Services, under one company is paramount to student and staff safety. Splitting into Lots would seriously risk undermine the proper execution of the contract whilst at the same time increasing CU overhead to manage and co-ordinate separate Lots. To support the University in its management, planning, programming and reporting of the Protection Services Contract, the appointed Contractor will be expected to demonstrate a proactive response in the fulfilment of the contract with the use of electronic communication, reporting, management, training and statistical analysis as required. In order to allow this Contract to be used for potential European Union funded projects we are notifying all candidates that some works might be subject to part funding by the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme for England (2014-2020) or any other European Union Funded Programme.
