Solar Panels for Woodways Pavilion

The Parish Council declared a climate emergency and has pledged to be carbon neutral by 2030. Woodways Pavilion is a sports pavilion which is home to a number of local sports clubs and The Whistler. The Whistler is a membership, sports and social club with a bar. Woodways Pavilion was built in late 1970's early 80's, with the sports and social club extension built in the mid 80's. The building is not built to modern standards and has a legacy of a poor layout . The main cellar area for The Whistler is situated above ground on the south side of the building. This requires a chiller unit to keep the cellar at an ambient temperature. Improvements have been made with insulation and the installation of a modern chilling unit, but this area uses a high volume of electricity. The energy consumption is particularly high in the summers months and by using renewable energy it is the Council's aim for Woodways Pavilion to become mainly self sufficient. This will also contribute towards the Council's ambition to be carbon neutral.
