The MCA requires the following interim appointment to satisfy critical business requirements in line with strategic programmes across the agency.The MCA does not have this skill set or experience currently within the agency.The post will have the opportunity for extension with prior board approval until the end of the financial yearhowever a permanent replacement should be in place by that time.Key Deliverables-To work as part of the new UK Shipping Concierge team with specific focus on identifying barriers to entry to UK and influencing policy leads across Government as appropriate to build better policy informed by commercial, social, andenvironmental needs-To identify opportunities for the UK to create maritime jobs and increase maritime GVA, underpinning the £3.7bn GVA growth plan-To provide the sector with a Government center of expertise, continuously monitoring international competition and recommending adjustments to the UK's fiscal offer -To build and maintain a dynamic model of the commercial drivers affecting international shipping, comparing maritime jurisdictions across these decision-influencing factors (e.g. taxation, labour, decarbonisation incentives, investment funding etc.)-To deliver a submission to DfT Strategic Finance and HM Treasury on financial products, as recommended by the Financial Products Working Group-To lead development of detailed economic proposals with DfT and HM Treasury officials ahead of the November 2021 Autumn Financial Statement-To lead on continued industry dialogue with key stakeholders across maritime to shape MCA thinking and strategy Key skills/characteristics-Highly accomplished leader with strong EQ, great people skills and high integrity-A credible commercial thinker, with strong understanding of shipping/maritime industry and macro-level economics-Excellent report-writing skills -able to summarise complex commercial/economic arguments-High level of numeracy -good working knowledge of P&L and balance sheets-Strong
