Earthworks Contract for A1 Junction 61 Improvement Works

Earthworks - A haul road will be the first phase of the works to be undertaken. Following implementation of the proposed haul road the works will be to form the new embankment entirely from imported granular fill. The proposed works are to provide additional running lanes and amended/new footway and cycleway at key points on the A1 Junction 61 roundabout. The new lanes will be formed by extending the existing embankment to the south of the junction, creating a widened crest to support the new running lanes/footway and cycleway.
