Description
The provision of this service is in response to requirements specified in the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) 1984, whereby the custody sergeant at each police station or equivalent at other sites has the responsibility for deciding whether a detained person or voluntary attendee may be deemed to be mentally vulnerable (referred to as vulnerable adult suspects), due to the fact that the individual may have mental health problems or a learning disability. Where this is the case, the service provider will be contacted to supply a trained Appropriate Adult to attend and provide assistance in line with the requirements of PACE. The framework will cover Leicestershire and Northamptonshire Police Forces
