Description
DNA testing is required to establish paternity when exploring safe and appropriate care options for children and young people within the child protection system and any provider must be Ministry of Justice Accredited. Drug and alcohol testing is used to support social care to establish whether a child or young person’s caring environment is safe and meeting their physical and emotional needs. Best practice guidance suggests that providers of drug and alcohol testing should be UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) accredited to the international quality standard ISO 17025 (2017 version).
