Description
Plymouth University is embarking on a transformative IT modernisation to meet its 2020 Strategy, and now needs to procure a replacement wired and wireless network solution. This procurement will be made up of Lots as follows: Lot 1 (i)Provision of scalable wired and wireless network solution, (ii)transition from existing to new network over a 6 month period, (iii)decommissioning and disposal of redundant kit, and (iv)handover to a BAU support model, either internal or external. Lot 2 (Optional) Management of the network service from Year 1 to Year 5. The University has no predetermined ideas on how the core network solution may look, but it must be a pervasive enterprise solution that covers all campus including indoor and outdoor spaces; and meets and exceeds our current requirements relating to capacity, speed and security. Effective delivery and service models will be key to the successful implementation and ongoing provision of services. Suppliers are encouraged to be innovative in their proposals and supportive of the University’s goals and ambitions. We are keen to work with partner(s) on any commercial opportunities and / or to achieve some added value for the University from partnership on network provision. Our current network serves a central campus plus 20 remote buildings, supporting a student population of 30,000, and staff of 4,500. The new solution should be flexible and scalable in order to meet future requirements and demand over the next 5 years; and have a predictable cost model to enable the University to budget effectively. Delivery of the network elements needs to commence during Summer 2015 and implementation should be sympathetic to the academic calendar.
