Description
NOTE: This notice was updated on 30 July 2020 for the following reason: The return date for the tender has been extended and is now midday on 7th August 2020 as detailed in item 10 above(The National Portrait Gallery (NPG) is undertaking a major capital project (the Inspiring People project) which includes a comprehensive re-display of the collection combined with a significant refurbishment of the building, the creation of new public spaces and a more welcoming visitor entrance and public forecourt. As part of these works, the Gallery wishes to commission a package of conservation works comprising local stone cleaning trials to the Galley façade and the dismantling and storage of the memorial to Sir Henry Irving. The statue (erected 1910, cast in bronze on a limestone base) is located on Charing Cross Road to the north of the NPG and is to be re-erected (and re-orientated) in the same location as part of a later phase of works to construct the proposed new forecourt.)
