Description
IT Services transitioned to Microsoft Intune in 2021, moving from on-premise device management to a cloud-based model to improve security, scalability, and consistency across Windows devices. This supports flexible working, strengthens compliance with Cyber Essentials, and helps maintain eligibility for funding and procurement opportunities requiring certification. The implementation has already delivered benefits such as improved visibility, standardisation, and reduced support overheads. The next phase is to expand into more advanced cloud-native endpoint management, including Desktop as a Service (DaaS), to further modernise service delivery. The strategy also aims to shift IT Services from reactive support to more proactive, analytics-driven management using Intune telemetry and automation. This will improve device provisioning, enable zero-touch deployment, and expand specialist capability. Overall, the goal is to create a scalable, flexible operating model that can respond to demand fluctuations while reducing operational risk, improving compliance, and supporting the University’s longer-term digital strategy over the next three years.
