Description
The purpose of this work is to carry out a review of geospatial standards and assess geospatial skills and knowledge within the historic environment sector in England, with the overall aim of improving the way in which geospatial heritage information is created, handled and shared. The work will contribute to broader initiatives to streamline workflows and decision-making in the planning system. In the light of this, the emphasis should be on datasets that are, or should be, routinely used in this context, including but not restricted to: Local Authority Historic Environment Record (HER) monument and event records, historic maps, lidar datasets and Historic Landscape Characterisation datasets. Key products will be a geospatial standards knowledge review report, including recommendations on the use of existing standards and the need for any new standards, a geospatial skills and knowledge assessment report, and a three year draft performance support plan.
