Description
Part one of the works is to repair and refurbish the existing window frames and to adapt them to accommodate vacuum glazing. Vacuum glazing is then to be supplied and installed to the frames. This work is to include all external window frames, in addition to the main hardwood frames in the living room, the kitchen, bathroom and lightwell facing windows are to be included. After the vacuum glazing has been installed testing will be undertaken by others to test the performance of the glazing. Once the testing of the vacuum glazing installation has been completed the vacuum glazing is to be removed and a double-glazing system installed into the existing frames. This installation is then to be tested by others. The second stage of work will consist of removing the double glazing and existing frames and installing new frames and a triple glazed system. On removal the old frames are to be moved and stored in a container on site for future possible re-installation. The performance of the triple glazed system is then to be tested. It is anticipated that the Pilot Scheme will clarify the pros and cons of each window installation option to enable a decision to be made as to which system would be best suited to be installed in the remaining 150 flats in the building.
