Description
The Buckinghamshire (Thames) NFM project aims to explore potential opportunities and benefits of Natural Flood Management (NFM) in the Thames River catchment in Buckinghamshire, particularly in 7 tributary catchments. We have secured funding, via the Local Levy from the Thames Regional Flood Risk and Coast Committee (RFCC) to explore flood risk resilience in the catchments. The project commissioned Thames21 Consortium to deliver public engagement and identify the economic viability options for each location. The project is divided into Part A and B. Part A comprises landowner engagement and NFM design development. Part B consists of continued landowner engagement, detailed design, and implementation of measures. Part A aims to identify, assess, and prioritise NFM options that help manage and reduce flood risk from mainly surface water runoff and groundwater, where possible while offering environmental net gain as part of a project pipeline development. The outputs of Part A will be used to inform the business case development to secure the funding for Part B of the project.
