Description
Installation of additional Reverse Osmosis water system within existing level 03 plant room (equipment by specialist supplier), together with new distribution pipework mounted at high level routed through Biology level 02 (including above the Engineering Workshop) to a room adjacent to the existing Zebrafish facility. Includes installation of new electrical outlets, upgraded water main and drainage connection to Level 03 (basement). The University has a preference for a contractor that has direct experience working within a life sciences or equivalent environment. This requirement is due the facility being involved in life science medical research and therefore being Home Office Licenced under the Animal Scientific Procedure Act 1986, for the welfare of the Zebrafish. All works within the facility, specifically connections to the systems, need to be made taking the above into account and appropriate mitigation measures will need to be put in place, so that at no point is the welfare of the Zebrafish put at risk. Any breach of requirements in this respect risks the loss of licence, associated research funding, research output and University reputation.
