Description
The aim is to have a clear, detailed and nuanced picture of the full breadth of practice of the South Asian music and dance ecology in the UK as it currently stands. This will be used as an evidence base to underpin how ACE can best respond to recommendations and achieve more strategic impact for the South Asian dance and music sector. The report will also be used as a common ground of understanding to strengthen the dialogue between Arts Council and the sector. The report should include: - A national map of existing South Asian dance and music activity not currently regularly funded by ACE (non-NPOs), which includes classical, folk and popular forms. - A detailed overview of provision, distribution and potential new opportunities within the professional and community context. - New insights into the strengths and vulnerabilities of the sector with thorough analysis of where activity is taking place, by whom and who it is for through evidence of business models and artistic practice. - A clear picture of where the gaps are for the sector, offer opportunities for the sector to grow and recommendations for how ACE can better support and reach part of the South Asian sector it is currently not reaching.
