Description
The A46 Newark Bypass is a complex major infrastructure improvement scheme being developed by National Highways to widen the A46 to dual carriageway from the Farndon Roundabout to the Winthorpe Roundabout. The A46 Newark Bypass scheme requires ecology revalidation surveys prior to entering construction of the scheme to determine the presence/absence of species within and adjacent to the Order Limits. The following surveys are required and will require the applicant to arrange landowner access and to provide recommendations for further survey and completion of reports upon completion of each species-specific surveys. • Bat Survey (aerial, emergence/re-entry (inc. trees and buildings), transects, statics, hibernation) • Badger Survey • GCN Survey (HSI, eDNA, presence/absence) • Otter Survey (habitat assessment and field signs) • Reptile survey (presence/absence) • Water vole survey (habitat assessment and field signs) • Wintering bird survey • Breeding bird survey • Barn owl survey (pre-commencement survey for closure of nest sites) • Aquatic invertebrate survey (PSYM, rapid pond, riverine, ditch macroinvertebrate) • Terrestrial invertebrate survey • River physical habitat survey (river habitat, ditch condition assessment, river condition assessment) • Botanical surveys (extended phase 1, condition assessment, NVC) • Desk study (NBGRC, BTO Report)
