Description

Wigan Council are seeking to appoint a Clerk of Works who will support Wigan Council to deliver three new build projects due to start on site between December 2019 and April 2020. A full description of the requirements is available in the Scope of Services document. More detail on the three schemes is provided below: 1. Wharfedale - This project involves the replacement of an existing sheltered housing block with a new extra care housing apartment block with communal facilities. There are 56 apartments in total. The communal facilities include lounge, assisted bathroom, reading room, kitchen, quiet room, outdoor patio and ancillary seating areas. The project is currently in for planning and is due on site in April 2020. The estimated total scheme cost is £ 7,000,000. 2. Sandalwood - This project involves the replacement of existing housing stock with an extra care housing block of 50 apartments and communal facilities and 19 bungalows. One of the bungalows is a specialist bariatric bungalow. The communal areas within the extra care block include communal lounge, assisted bathroom, quiet lounge, kitchen, terrace and ancillary seating areas. The project is currently in for planning and is due on site in April 2020. The estimated total scheme cost is£8,500,000. 3. Brackley House- this project involves the demolition of a former sheltered housing block followed by the construction of 17 general needs houses on the site. The site is due to start in December 2019. The scheme is currently in for planning and tenders have just been returned. The total scheme cost is estimated at £2,200,000.
